On Wednesday 6th January 2016 Robinson House were privileged to have a visit from our namesake Jason Robinson. His visit was eagerly anticipated by all staff and students that had prior knowledge of his arrival. He started his visit by joining all the Heads of Houses, Robinson Deputy Heads of House, Robinson House Captains and Robinson Vice Captains in the White room for some lunch and informal discussion. After some food and a long chat with Megan Lee, Sam Straker and Miss Jefferson, Jason joined the House Captains and Vice Captains in a circle to have a discussion around leadership. They had an opportunity to ask Jason Questions around what it was like to be a captain and who he saw as his leadership role models, as well as some general questions.
Following this Jason joined Robinson House in the Hall for a special assembly. After a tremendous round of applause Jason introduced us to his life and journey from a small boy growing up in Leeds, to a Rugby World Cup winner, and now a director of 3 companies. Jason’s message was one of inspiration and encouragement to us as a house, but also every individual student in the Hall. The resilience and motivation he showed as he grew up is something we can all take away. After being awarded a Wetherby High School Robinson House Badge Jason answered some questions from Robinson Students. This allowed Jason to talk about a variety of factors, from the skills he has learnt through playing sport being completely relevant to be a Director of a company, to how his mum has always been his role model for the part he played in his life as he grew up.
After a few photos with the Robinson House leadership team Jason finished his trip meeting Mr Flowers, Mrs Lakin, Miss Jefferson and myself to discuss the future of Robinson House. What an incredible afternoon meeting a truly inspiring man!
