It was a pleasure to welcome the BBC Bitesize roadshow into school today, hosted by sports reporter and presenter, Ross Fiddes. Our students heard from Caitlin Mawhinney - Set & Costume Design Kerry Maule - Director/Producer at Grow Productions Eleanor Alpar - Researcher at BBC Children's & Education Each talking about their chosen careers and pathways they took into the creative industry. It was fantastic to see our students in all year groups asking so many questions and really engaging with the roadshow.

Wetherby’s Got Talent

What a talented set of students we have at Wetherby. It takes an incredible amount of courage to stand up in front of the school and perform with such enthusiasm and passion. We had students singing, playing musical instruments, dancing and gymnastics. All our students did a fantastic job. Restart a Heart Day 2022

Students in Year 7 and Year 8 joined more than 30,000 students in secondary schools across Yorkshire and the Humber that took part in #RestartaHeartDay on Friday 14th October. Learning the vital skill of CPR Call. Push. Rescue. from Yorkshire Ambulance Staff and Volunteers, using the song 'Staying Alive' to save lives. We were joined by Vice Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Tim Hare, whose role is to represent the Royal family, looking after them when they visit West Yorkshire. Open Evening Wednesday 28th September 2022 A brilliant opportunity for our prospective Year 7 2023 cohort to have a tour of our school and speak to staff and students. Our team of student tour guides and student's in departments did a fantastic job of answering any questions and helping throughout the evening. The evening was filled with science experiments, cooking lessons, trampolining, music performances and much, much more. Families were able to find out about our school's ethos, House system, Coaching and what opportunities are available for students at Wetherby High School.

This summer term Wetherby High School are raising money for our four house charities, Tomlinson House will be raising money for 'The Jane Tomlinson Appeal' helping children to be happier and healthier and improving the lives of people living with cancer. Robinson House will be raising money for 'St Gemma's Hospice' providing the best possible care and support for people with life threatening illnesses Bremner House will be raising money for 'Martin House Hospice' providing family-led care for young children and young people with life limiting conditions. Tim Bradshaw and Vanessa Ruck gave an inspirational talk to our Y9 & Y10 today. Talking about the adversity they have overcome in their lives, the positive mindset and resilience they have shown to get where they are today Tim was trying to summit Everest in 2015 when the Earthquake hit.  Vanessa's world was turned upside down, resulting in 7 surgeries and a rollercoaster of mental and physical recovery spanning 7 years.
