Here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions
How do the school buses operate?
The school operates five buses each school day – the WH11, WH12, WH13, WH14 and WH15. For information about bus routes and times please visit www.wymetro.com/schools.
The bus routes change each year dependent on the addresses of the children that attend WHS that year. This includes the possibility of additional buses being provided if children will be attending from a different area to what is currently catered for.
What time do I need to be at school?
The normal school day starts at 9.00am on Monday and 8.40am on Tuesday-Friday. We would expect students to be on the school site by 8.50am on a Monday and 8.30am on a Tuesday-Friday. However, students are welcome earlier than that and we have breakfast available for students to purchase before school if they wish.
How do I buy school lunches?
Students can choose to either bring packed lunches or buy lunch at school. We operate a cashless school, therefore we use ParentPay. This allows parents/carers to put money on a student’s account which they can then use to buy food at school.

What equipment do I need?
It is essential that students come to school with a pencil case that includes a black and green pen, a pencil, ruler, rubber, pencil sharpener, whiteboard pen, highlighter and calculator, so that they are ready and prepared for their lessons. We will provide their first green pen and whiteboard pen.
What is the uniform and how can I purchase it?

Uniform can be bought from APC Clothing and Kool Kidz, either ordered online or purchased in-store. We also have some pre-loved uniform in school that we can distribute to families.
Will we get homework?
Online Learning is our term for what you may traditionally know as ‘homework’.
Online Learning provides students with the opportunity to continue their studies at home. It is an important life skill for students to be able to manage their own time and develop their ability to work independently. Students will be able to access Online Learning that cements their understanding of key concepts and helps them to prepare effectively for future assessments. Students will be also be set work that further develops their reading skills and widens and deepens their understanding of subjects.
What will Online Learning look like?
In most cases, Online Learning for Year 7 will be set by teachers once a half term. Students will be provided with the task and resources on Epraise via the Epraise website or the app. They will be able to submit work through Epraise, either having completed the work electronically or taking a photo on their phones and submitting it.
Parents/carers will also be able to use the Epraise app to track their child’s work and to see when they have submitted it. Log-in details will be provided when students start WHS in September.
